PER LUNDGREN; THIS SUMMIT'S HERO
The World Summit in Sweden 2010 has attracted more than 1100 delegates from 70 countries. The World Summit in Sweden 2010 has attracted more than 1100 delegates from 70 countries. The Media Industry corporations from everywhere are here, distributors and producers,
the formeost researchers and other high relevance media professionals are also attending the Summit
Media industry, research, journalists, youth and educators have been working hard thru 212 sessions to create a better media world for children and youth.
More than 50 articles have been produced by press, radio, television, web, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
The outcome of the Summit is a recommendation document by the delegates defining challenges and making recommendations for future action. Youth will play the most important role in the final session, reporting thru rapporteurs how they see todays media world and what they want from the media world in the future.
Why did you start working with youth and media?
For myself this is a long journey with engagement in children youth and media. My interest comes from the creativity in communication that is now everyones opportunity, but also with the critical thinking skills. it’s necessary to be a responsible communicator.
The idea of World Summit 2010 became an idea i my mind in 2000 in Toronto - Canada and now, 10 years later I find that we have come a long way internationally in Sweden and for myself it’s a great pleasure to see what’s happened this week in Karlstad.
How did you get in contact with World Summit?
My first meeting with the World Summit was in Rio de Janerio in Brazil 2004 at the World Summit there and I was inspired by the activities from youth and the meetings between people from different countries and i knew that we in Sweden, in the nordic countries have so much to give and offer because we have a strong public service broadcast tradition and we have a democratic educational system and we are open for international collaboration in our part of the world, so everything fits well together.
Are you satisfied with this years World Summit?
So many organizations, corporations and people have expressed their gratitude to us as organizers and so many happy faces and cheerful greetings. As organizers we are happy to have made so many friends all over the world.
What do you think has been most important in this years World Summit?
The most important thing from this Summit 2010 is that it doesn’t stop here, we must keep contact, continue the work and collaboration where ever we are in the world.
This has been an inspiring and great experience for all of us, from the World Summit organization committee, youth and professional organizations and everyone involved. We want to thank all you delegates for making this a great success. Do contact us in the future at info@wskarlstad2010.se
I look forward to coming collaborations with the next World Summit host BALI INDONESIA.
Per Lundgren has worked for several years to get all things in place for this summit but this afternoon he can finally relax and call it a good days work.
