091202 The American magazine Foreign Policy has listed the Top 100 Global Thinkers with the big ideas that shaped our world in 2009. The Swedish professor
Hans Rosling who will speak during the World Summit 2010 is on the list "for boggling our minds with paradigm-shattering data".
Rosling is professor of international health at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden and runs Gapminder which is "unveiling the beauty of statistics for a fact

WS programme presenter Vinod Ganatra wins special jury film prize
091126 The indian film director Vinod Ganatra is participating in the World Summit 2010 programme. His film "Harun - Arun" has won the
Liv Ullman Peace Prize at Chicago International Children's Film Festival. It's given to a film which positively addresses to children's difficult
topics such as racism, prejudice and abuse or topis bringing children closer with an understanding of the global culture in which they function. World Summit
congratulates Vinod.

World Summit at UNESCO Second Global Forum
091106 At the UNESCO Second Global Forum in Bangkok Thailand, the Power for Peace Network worked globaly to create and develop the Power for Peace Network as
an international resource to use media and ICT for developments. One of the concret outcomes was the collaboration with the World Summit on Media for
Children and Youth in Karlstad Sweden 2010. Children and youth in Thailand will produce a video on peace and send to Karlstad, and many international
organisations working with UNESCO followed up with collaboration ideas with Director Per Lundgren after the Summit was presented.

ABOUT WORLD SUMMIT
World Summits are held every three years and provide a forum for producers, broadcasters and regulators of media for children and other professionals and community leaders committed to the improvement of quality media for children.
The Summit has travelled around world cities since 1995 when it started in Melbourne, Australia. Since then it has been in London, Thessaloniki, Rio de Janeiro and Johannesburg. Now it’s time for Scandinavia and Karlstad to host the World Summit.
